(WSYR-TV) — Love, pavement and charity. Those are the key ingredients for the Cupid’s Chase 5k returning this Saturday in Liverpool.

Onondaga Lake Park will play host to the 18th annual race to benefit Community Options, which supports individuals with disabilities in feeling empowered and independent.

Long-time volunteer, committee chair and Storm Team meteorologist Kate Thornton joined the show along with associate executive director Jodi Burkinshaw for details on this year’s race.

Participants are invited to run, walk, roll or cheer with purpose in support of the mission to create housing and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. This year over 13,000 participants will celebrate love and inclusion at races across the country in 49 cities across 12 states.

There will be on-site music, raffles, goodies and giveaways in an upbeat and pet friendly environment.

Cupid’s Chase is held in February each year to commemorate the founding of Community Options on Feb. 9, 1989. This is the first year that the race falls on Valentine’s Day.
