More than 100 runners and walkers laced up at the York fairgrounds this morning, not just for a race, but for a good cause.

The Cupid’s Chase 5K returned to York as part of a national series supporting people with disabilities. Participants took to the course to raise money for housing, employment, and support services right here in York.

Community Options provides residential services, day programs, high school transition support, and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Uh, it’s always exhilarating to set up, you know, you wake up super early, um, it’s one of those things that I can never sleep the night before because one, I’m excited, two, I’m scared I’m gonna sleep over.

You watch everybody get here, the excitement build, and then once you hit the, once you hit the start line, it’s, it’s just a matter of time before you get to congratulate somebody for crossing.

The organization focuses on person-centered care, tailoring services to each individual’s needs rather than large congregate settings.

Cupid’s Chase is now in its 18th year nationwide. Last year, more than 11000 runners participated across the country, all to celebrate inclusion and to expand opportunities.
