Advocating for Increased Support at the Arizona Capitol
January 29, 2025
Yesterday, Kathryn Valles-Wallace, Executive Director of Tucson, Shaun Crouse, Executive Director of Phoenix, and Michael Burnett, Regional Vice President of Arizona and Utah, visited the Arizona State Capitol to advocate for increased funding for individuals with disabilities. Governor Katie Hobbs’ proposed budget includes an increase in Developmental Disabilities Division (DDD) rates, and we met with legislators to encourage their support for this critical measure.
During our discussions, we highlighted the impact of our services, the needs of the individuals we support, and the challenges facing our organization. A key focus of these conversations was the importance of rate increases in addressing workforce sustainability, including staff wages, which are essential for maintaining high-quality care.
We remain committed to advocating for policies that strengthen supports for people with disabilities and will continue working to ensure their needs are prioritized.
