Bethel TesfyeTekle, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Bethel has seven years of experience in the nonprofit sector, and holds a Master’s degree in Gender studies from Addis Ababa University. While working on the University Success Program (USP) funded by USAID, which has been operational through the Family Health International 360 (FHI360), she developed strong project coordination and implementation skills. She is a founding member of Horizon youth development and served as the group’s Executive Director. Previously, Bethel worked for Young Women’s Christian Association Ethiopia (YWCA); she developed a new project for accessible service delivery and better service utilization for people with disabilities. She also represented the YWCA as a Youth Representative in an international and regional Sexual Reproductive Health and Family Planning youth day conference, and she played a key role in mobilizing community dialogues on different issues. Through these experiences and many additional conferences and training sessions, Bethel developed strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of sexual reproductive health, gender issues and youth issues, and the ability to effectively advocate on a national and international level. She is passionate about working with young people and civil society to create social change.
