Atlas Corps fellow Muhyi Eldeen Salih Homeida Salih, Al Gadarif, Sudan
Muhyi Eldeen Salih has four years of experience in the nonprofit sector and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Arts in the field of English Language and Linguistics from University of Kassala. He served for the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, and subsequently enrolled at the Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) Graduate College, with a Master’s in English Linguistics. He has recently worked for the International Aid Services (IAS), Sudan Program, in Darfur region as a Community Development Officer (CDO). Through this work, he experienced the skills of mobilizing communities in deep remote areas for the implementation of a civil society development project funded by the Swedish Mission Council (SMC). Also in the Darfur region, he worked for the Al-massar Charity Organization for Nomads Development and Environmental Conservation as programs coordinator. Through his work at Al-massar he gained experience in the areas of proposal writing, project management and addressing issues of nomadic communities. Earlier in 2012, Muhyi joined the Sudanese Red Crescent Society in eastern Sudan and functioned as programs manager, where he gained skills related to livelihoods and community development projects at refugee camps. With his recent position for the International Aid Services (IAS), he developed his abilities in report writing, community mobilization and sensitization, community approaches, and total sanitation. Working closely with community development committees, Muhyi guided them on how to address their potential needs through proposal writing. Muhyi is interested in gaining further experience and knowledge in the field of urban/rural community development and people with disabilities.
Fellow Role at Community Options
In collaboration with the Executive Director and the national office, Muhyi will identify funding resources and develop relationships with foundations at the local, state and federal levels with the ultimate goal of developing program and employment opportunities.
