Business Enterprise Focused on Employment of Individuals with Disabilities to Open in Charleston
Charleston, SC, January 16, 2018 – Community Options Enterprises, the business enterprise division of national non-profit Community Options, Inc. is planning to open its fifth Daily Plan It this Spring in Charleston, SC. The enterprise is expected to employ between 10 and 15 individuals with disabilities.
The Daily Plan It is a complete office, conference and copy center that offers furnished office rental space or virtual tenancy to a variety of businesses. Some of the services provided to the tenants include professional receptionist services, clerical support, and high-speed color copying. Located at 29 Leinbach Drive in Charleston, the 7,200 square-foot space will support 10 office space rentals as well as provide the Community Options, Inc Charleston staff with administration offices. There will be two separate entrances; one for the office-space tenants and supported employment program, and one for the administrative offices of Community Options – Charleston.
“We are thrilled that we will be able to provide these services to our community,” said Dorothy Goodwin, Community Options South Carolina State Director. “We will be serving our primary mission of providing employment supports to people with disabilities while at the same time, offering affordable office space to local small businesses – and engaging those businesses in our mission.”
This location will join the four existing Daily Plan It locations in New Jersey, expanding a proven program for developing workplace skills for people with developmental disabilities. “Our primary goal has always been to bring people with disabilities into the workforce within the local community, exposing both the individual who is learning workplace skills and members of the business community to one another,” Robert Stack, CEO of Community Options, Inc. states. “It’s beneficial for everyone involved – it allows for real-world experience and fostering empathy, and eventually, creation of advancement opportunities for people with disabilities.”
Rekha Rao, Esq. of Rao Legal Group, LLC has been a tenant at one of the New Jersey Daily Plan It locations for nearly two years. She says, “This office space was intentionally chosen because the Daily Plan It is actually a subsidiary of Community Options Enterprises, Inc., a non-profit organization. All of the revenues generated from office space rentals go right back into the organization, whose mission is to develop housing and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. As an attorney who does special needs planning and guardianships, this mission is near and dear to my heart.”
