Center for Advocacy Leaders Welcomes New Jersey State Senator Anthony Bucco
January 31, 2023
The Center for Advocacy Leaders (CAL), a training program facilitated by Community Options and funded by the New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities, provides individuals with disabilities the opportunity to build self-advocacy skills through monthly sessions, guest speakers, and leadership development.
On January 31, 2023, CAL participants welcomed New Jersey State Senator Anthony Bucco for a hybrid virtual and in-person event hosted by Community Options’ Denville, New Jersey office.
Participants joined from additional Community Options locations in Princeton, Woodbury, and Forked River, as well as remotely. Sen. Bucco spoke with self-advocates about key issues including accessibility, employment, and transportation, and answered questions from participants. He also shared his support for the group’s advocacy efforts and invited members to participate in the New Jersey Legislative Disability Caucus.
The event was coordinated by Community Options Chief Strategy Officer Wei-Han Zhou and brought together self-advocates from across the state to share their perspectives and strengthen their advocacy skills.
The Center for Advocacy Leaders continues to empower individuals with disabilities to speak up, make informed decisions, and advocate for themselves and others.
