Chasing Cupid for a cause
Town of Dickinson, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Valentine’s Day is a day all about love. All across the country — and in the Southern Tier — those who love to run laced up for a special 5k.
It was the seventh annual Cupid’s Chase run organized by Community Options Inc.
Runners gathered at Otsiningo Park Saturday morning, but they weren’t alone. Binghamton was one of 27 cities from New York to Arizona to host the race.
Community Options is a national nonprofit that provides housing and employment to people with disabilities. Every year, it holds the annual 5k to raise money for the people they support.
“We have amazing volunteers, amazing community that definitely comes together,” said Amanda Rick, event coordinator. “We work year round to make this a great event and I guess I love to see that the volunteers and the community come out and support us.”
All proceeds from the race go directly toward supporting people with disabilities in their local communities.
Last year, Community Options raised more than $200,000 nationwide.
