Community Options Enterprises, Inc. (COE) was established to develop and operate entrepreneurial businesses that successfully integrate people with disabilities into the workforce. By operating businesses such as a flower shop, copy centers, and shared office facilities, COE confronts the barriers of sheltered training centers and workshops by intergrating individuals into community-based work settings instead. These businesses are owned and operated by COE in order to enhance job training and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

New Faces, New Projects on the Horizon for Community Options Enterprises in 2015

Community Options Enterprises is known for innovation. With flower stores, a gift shop, a creative services department and three office complexes in which the infrastructure is managed by people with disabilities for office tenants, the successful nonprofit is looking forward to a great future.

Community Options Enterprises has now purchased a new flower store on Route 1 in Edison, NJ. This, coupled with a new School to Employment Program (STEP) building in Princeton, will demonstratively show the strength of the organization.

Robert Stack, Chair of Community Options Enterprises, is delighted with the growth and is now pushing for additional stewardship from the newly appointed board.

During the month of March, Alec Taylor, Richard De Angelis and Dan Surtz will be installed to augment the existing board of Audrey Chen, Dr. Baber Ghauri, C. Herb Schneider and Paul Hritz.

Mr. Taylor, Principal with the Matrix group has been tapped for his expertise in commercial acquisition and renovations as well as his advocacy for persons with disabilities such as autism. Mr. De Angelis is a formitable attorney in Morris County with a niche practice focused on tax law relative to property and has a demonstrated ability and commitment for assisting nonprofits in their quest for mission fullfillment. Mr. Surtz offers outsourced infrastructure services and will be an asset to connect Community Options Enterprises’ staff with local employers through his track record and proven contacts.

This group, with veteran board members from banking, to marketing to medical services, will propel Community Options Enterprises into sustained employment growth for persons with disabilities around the country.
