Community Options, Inc. Named 5th Largest Nonprofit by New Jersey Business Journal

(Princeton, New Jersey – March 7, 2014) Twenty-five years ago, Robert Stack founded Community Options, Inc. Community Options is a national nonprofit organization that develops housing and employment for people with developmental disabilities. As the agency reflects on the past 25 years, they remember all of the people, events, trials and triumphs that have made Community Options exactly what it is today. What an incredible thought that a man had enough vision and fortitude to know that people with dis abilities deserve to live lives just like you and I and risked it all to make it happen.

It is no surprise that twenty-five years later, through all the hard work and dedication that Community Options has been named the fifth largest nonprofit organization by the New Jersey Business Journal.

We often hear Robert Stack, Founder of Community Options talk about the small kitchen table in his Bordentown home where he sat and began the work to open Community Options. We often hear the story of how he used to answer his wall telephone with an English accent to given callers the impression that he actually had a secretary. All of these stories are the foundation of how eventually, supporting one person turned into two and how two turned into three and three turned into thousands. How one house turned into a home and how that model became the way in which Community Options would operate all of its homes. Homes that when you walk in feel warm. Homes that when you walk in the people that live there cannot wait to show you every square inch. These are the homes that liberate, that provide normalcy and that allow each person we support to fulfill each of their hopes and dreams.

Community Options will be celebrating their 25th year anniversary at the Morven Museum on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 6:30pm. The organization will also be honoring Governor Kean at this commemorative event. For more information, please visit www.comop.org
