Community Options Appoints New Board Member
Princeton, New Jersey…The Board of Directors of Community Options Inc., announced today the appointment of Bryan McDonald as the eleventh trustee. Community Options, a national nonprofit supporting thousands of persons with disabilities across the United States accepted Bryan McDonald citing his expertise in accounting, management and dedicated philanthropy.
Robert Stack, President of Community Options said that “Mr. McDonald brings extensive leadership experience in advancing accessibility, accountability, and coordination among public agencies for effective service delivery to address human needs. He is a most welcomed addition and I am delighted that our Chairman has accepted his nomination to the board.” Mr. McDonald is the former Director of the Office of Recovery for Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour. His accomplishments included numerous testimonies before Congress and collaboration with leaders in the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Small Business Administration, Department of Justice, and Department of Labor. He worked with Congressional leadership, committees, and the White House to distribute the $24 billion in federal aid provided to Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina. This success earned him public recognition on the floor of the United States Senate.
Currently a partner in the disaster compliance division of HORNE LLP, Mr. McDonald works with state and local governments to solve the funding issues related to disaster relief. He established and maintained the first state – based real – time audit system for Public Assistance, providing the framework for regular, systematic management review to ensure program accountability and quality control for more than $2.8 billion. The General Accounting Office recognized this process in its report to Congress on disaster recovery.
Mr. McDonald earned his Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Mississippi. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Mississippi, Texas, and New Jersey; a Certified Fraud Examiner; and Certified in Financial Forensics with vast experience in construction, false – claim cases and SEC investigations.
