Community Options Celebrates Seven Years and Three Promotions of Melissa Petrowsky at Stop & Shop
August 27, 2025

Emerson, NJ — Community Options, Inc., a leading national nonprofit dedicated to supporting people with disabilities, is proud to recognize the career accomplishments of Melissa Petrowsky, who has thrived at Stop & Shop for more than seven years through the organization’s supported employment program.
Melissa began as a cashier, later supported the self-checkout area and was recently promoted into the floral department—a role she now calls her favorite. With the encouragement of her supervisors and guidance from her Employment Specialist, Melissa embraced the opportunity to learn new skills and discovered a passion for arranging flowers and caring for plants.
“Melissa is one of the best employees I have here,” said Juju Davis, Front End Supervisor at Stop & Shop. “She’s always willing to help, eager to learn and a true team player. I encouraged her to try the floral department, and she’s been thriving ever since.”
Known for her kindness, teamwork and dedication, Melissa has earned the respect of both coworkers and customers. She credits her job with teaching her patience and empathy, and looks forward to continuing to grow her career in the floral department.
“Melissa’s success shows the true value of supported employment,” said Dina Casalaspro, Managing Director of Employment and Development Services at Community Options. “When people are given opportunities to explore their interests and strengths, they can flourish in meaningful careers. Melissa is an inspiration to others and a wonderful example of what inclusion looks like in the workplace.”
Community Options’ supported employment program partners with businesses across the country to create pathways to independence and career success for people with disabilities.
