Community Options Expands Services into Maryland
PRINCETON, NJ — In November 2015, Community Options, a national nonprofit that provides housing and employment supports to individuals with disabilities, established an office in Rockville, Maryland, followed by opening their first home in Maryland on February 29th, 2016. Soon thereafter, three people with disabilities were living in their new home.
The Maryland office has since opened additional homes in the Rockville/Silver Spring area. Community Options supports 24 individuals in six beautiful area homes. In addition to residential services, Community Options also provides supported employment services, personal supports, and has two-day programs in Montgomery and Howard Counties.
On Thursday, June 16, a Welcome Dinner was held at the Washingtonian Marriott in Gaithersburg Maryland in the Lakeside Ball Room, with many staff members, individuals and their families in attendance, spending time and getting to know everyone.
Associate Executive Director Kim Herndon welcomed everyone to the company and thanked her management team for guiding them through the transition smoothly. Residential Coordinator Cheryl Moises spoke to the residential employees, extending gratitude for their service. Finally, Brian Dion, the Regional Vice President of Pennsylvania & Maryland, offered his appreciation to everyone as the night got underway.
“We want to thank Community Options very much for the terrific banquet the other night. We thoroughly enjoyed the great company,” said the Goss Family. “We are very grateful to be welcomed into the Community Options family and for all their efforts to create a wonderful program opportunity for our children. We look forward to continuing to work with them any way we can.”
The Maryland team looks forward to continued growth and success in serving the community.
