April 27, 2026

PRINCETON, NJ — Community Options, a leading national nonprofit supporting people with disabilities, was awarded a grant to launch a new initiative to prepare youth with disabilities for careers in advanced manufacturing and technology.

Supported by the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation, the 3D Printing and Micro-certifications for Placement in Advanced Manufacturing Careers will provide hands-on training, industry-recognized certifications and paid work experience to 150 young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities over the next two years.

“We are grateful to partner with Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation to develop a program to create real opportunities in growing industries,” said Robert Stack, President and CEO of Community Options. “By combining technical training with recognized credentials, we are building pathways to meaningful employment for people with disabilities.”

Participants will gain experience in 3D printing and computer-aided design (CAD), while earning certifications such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and CAD credentials to strengthen their employment prospects.

“Empowering young people with disabilities to pursue careers in advanced manufacturing reflects our commitment to fostering inclusion and opportunity,” said Kevin R. Webb, Executive Director of Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation. “We are proud to support Community Options in preparing the next generation for meaningful employment and a brighter future.”

The program will take place in Community Options’ Daily Plan It locations, which provide integrated work environments where participants receive hands-on training while developing workplace skills.

Community Options operates in 12 states and supports more than 7,000 individuals nationwide. In Pennsylvania, Community Options supports over 1,400 individuals with disabilities through employment and residential services.
