Community Options named Charity of the Match for game vs. Portland
Community Options was named Philadelphia Union’s Charity of the Match in the team’s game against Portland Timbers.
“It was an honor to be recognized as the Charity of the Match,” said Nick High, Executive Director of Community Options – Philadelphia.
Community Options is a non-profit which provides housing and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. The organization is active in 11 states across the country, helping the disabled with services such as residential services, day programs, social enterprises through employment, high school transitional programs, and specialized programs for those with mental illnesses.
Community Options started in 1989, always with the focus to help those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Community Options believes in the dignity of every person, and strives to give those who are need is services to achieve the highest form of self-determination.
“Since 1989, Community Options has provided homes and jobs to adults with disabilities as an alternative to marginalization and institutionalization,” High said. “Our goal is to give those who are often left on the sidelines a means to live life with dignity and self-determination.”
Being named Charity of the Match, Community Options was recognized at halftime and received an award from Philadelphia Insurance Companies, a proud sponsor of the Charity of the Match.
