Dawit Gessese - Community Options New York, Board of Directors

NEW YORK, NY – Community Options New York, a leading nonprofit organization supporting people with disabilities, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dawit Gessese to the Board of Directors.
Community Options develops innovative housing and employment supports for 5,000 people with disabilities in eleven states. In New York State, the organization provides services to people with disabilities and traumatic brain injuries in Binghamton, New York City, and Syracuse.

“I am excited to welcome Dawit as a Trustee of Community Options New York,” said Robert Stack, President and CEO of Community Options. “Dawit brings a diverse skillset with both a legal and financial background. His unique perspectives will be an invaluable asset to our organization.”
Dawit is a senior associate at Blackstone, where he is a member of the Infrastructure Private Equity Group. Before joining Blackstone, Dawit was an associate at Advent International in Boston, focusing on the evaluation and execution of private equity transactions and portfolio company management.
“Community Options does tremendous work supporting New Yorkers with disabilities,” said Dawit Gessese. “It is an honor to join the organization and work with our prestigious board members and executives to further the mission.”
Community Options operates 42 community-based residences to house 129 people across New York State. The nonprofit also supports over 850 people in employment services, partnering with businesses and large corporations such as Legends at Yankee Stadium, CVS, and Amazon.

Dawit has a JD and MBA from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School. He received his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania.
