Community Options Opens Two New Group Homes in Harlem For People With Disabilities
PRINCETON, NJ – (August 19, 2014) Six individuals with disabilities in New York City will have the opportunity to live an independent life in the community, as Community Options, Inc. has opened two new group homes in the Harlem section of Manhattan.
One of the group homes is located at 110th Street and 2nd Avenue. The home has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and will become the home to two people. The other is at East 128th Street and Madison Avenue. This home on 128th Street possesses two bedrooms, two bathrooms and will accommodate four people.
“We are excited about the progress in New York City,” said Christopher Thompson, Executive Director, Community Options, Inc. “There is still a lot of work to be done, but seeing lives change is a great reward for our efforts to empower people with disabilities.”
Community Options provides a variety of supports to 600 people in the state of New York, with 153 of those individuals living in New York City.
Through their strong and ever-growing relationships with the New York State Department of Health TBI Waiver, New York State Office of People with Developmental Disabilities, (OPWDD) and Employment Services through New York State Education-ACCES, Community Options’ will continue to support more people with disabilities in the New York City community.
