Local Nonprofit Appoints New Executive Director to Corpus Christi Operation

Corpus Christi, April 14, 2009: The Corpus Christi operation of Community Options, Inc. was established in 2008 to develop housing and innovative employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. Community Options, Inc. is a national nonprofit that has been developing support services for people with disabilities for over twenty years. With locations in El Paso, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and Amarillo, the new Corpus Christi location is developed in an environment that is conducive for growth and expansion.

Diana Ortega, the newly appointed Executive Director of Community Options, Inc. of Corpus Christi joins the organization with a Master of Arts degree in Psychology from Texas A&M and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Diana has years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities in community- based and school mental health agencies. Diana has eight years of administrative and management experience in the nonprofit and for profit sectors of business. Prior to joining Community Options, Inc., Diana was a School Psychologist with Corpus Christi ISD and a Crisis Supervisor with Avail Solutions, Inc.

Community Options is the nation’s fastest growing nonprofit organization supporting people with developmental disabilities and while this growth is substantial, the quality of our supports is never compromised. Community Options provides the highest level of quality support and innovation in all program design. Housing programs in Corpus Christi are designed to assist people with disabilities moving from state facilities, nursing homes, or who are on waiting list for community services, to find housing in their community. Other services include respite and support services for people living at home with their families or residing in their own home.

Employment programs focus on individual competitive jobs or community volunteer placements. Community Options provides the evaluations, support and follow-up services required to assist individuals with pursuing employment, taking into consideration the special needs of each individual.
