Fair Lawn Mayor and State Senator, Real Housewives of New Jersey Run 5K Race
Fair Lawn Mayor Lisa Swain finished in second place overall among women, while several cast members from the Bravo show ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey’ were on hand at the charitable eventFair Lawn Mayor Lisa Swain finished in second place overall among women during the Cupid’s Chase 5K race on Saturday in Glen Rock.
Swain said that while running in the cold is difficult, “what always motivates me is that I’m running for a good cause.” Saturday’s event was a benefit for Community Options Inc., a non-profit that has been developing community-based home and employment support for people with disabilities since 1989.
State Senator Bob Gordon (D-38), a Fair Lawn resident, said he ran the race in under 40 minutes. Gordon also worked to recruit sponsors and runners for the event, with and among the Fair Lawn sponsors.
“I certainly feel good about helping that organization,” Gordon said.
Saturday was the first time that Gordon ran a 5K.
“I run for office a lot, I don’t know whether that counts,” he joked.
Racers registered on Doremus Avenue starting at 8 a.m. and were treated to vendors, DJs, and even a glimpse of some of the cast members from the hit Bravo show “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.”
The top three finishers were Gene Mitchell, Brian Taylor and Jean Mercedes.
