Jackson woman promoted by nonprofit

Courtney Eidel of Jackson has been named chief administrative officer of Community Options, Princeton, a national nonprofit organization that provides housing and employment support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She joined the organization in 2010 as senior director of human resources and later was promoted to vice president of human resources and quality management. In her new role, she will assume responsibility the information technology, quality assurance training, grants and development. She also was named secretary of the board of directors for Community Options Enterprises.
State nurses association chooses its CEO
Judith E. Schmidt has been appointed chief executive officer of the New Jersey State Nurses Association. The organization represents the interests of 125,000 registered nursing and advanced practice nurses. Schmidt has practiced for more than 30 years at Community Medical Center, Toms River, where she is currently the nurse educator for the night shift. She serves on the Community Medical Center Hospital Board of Trustees, Foundation of Trustees, and Auxiliary Association, currently as its president. She is a member of the Philippine Nurses Association and National League for Nursing.
O’Brien Funeral Home recognized for work
O’Brien Funeral Home, with locations in Wall and Brick, has received the 2015 Pursuit of Excellence Award from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA). According to NFDA, only 155 funeral homes in the world earned this recognition. To earn the award, both locations had to demonstrate a commitment to offering outstanding programs and resources to grieving families and giving back to their community through unique outreach programs, while adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards.
Volunteers needed for AARP tax aides
Volunteers are needed to assist with the AARP Tax-Aide program, a program that provides free income tax preparations services. Volunteers must attend approximately three days of training during December and five days during January and are required to be available, at least one half-day weekly from Feb. 1 to April 15, 2016.
