Love is in the air for Cupid’s Chase 5K
This year’s run takes place Saturday at Otsiningo Park
BINGHAMTON, N.Y.
UPDATE: Due to cold temperatures, the 5K has been postponed to Saturday, February 20th.
A local non-profit is hoping to spark some romance while raising money for its mission.
Community Options in Binghamton is hosting its 8th annual Cupid’s Chase 5K this Saturday at Otsiningo Park.
The run supports its efforts toward developing housing and employment services for individuals with disabilities.
The event, which is held simultaneously in 30 cities around the country, always takes place on the weekend nearest Valentine’s Day.
This year, participants will have an easier time making a love connection.
“The run is love inspired. Everybody who registers will have to select from ‘available’ or ‘unavailable’ long-sleeve shirt depending on their relationship status,” said Executive Director Amanda Rick.
There will also be prizes for the best Valentine’s Day inspired outfits, and Mix 103.3 deejays will be happy to play some slow romance jams to get people in the mood.
You can pre-register for $30 up until noon on Friday by logging on to CupidsChase.org, or $40 race day registration begins at 8 a.m. with the run starting at 10 a.m. on the newly paved and widened paths at Otsiningo Park.
