More Than Gifts: Your Community Gift Shop Changing Lives
April 01, 2025 | Press Release.pdf

Flanders, New Jersey – In the heart of Flanders, along US-206, there is a small but extraordinary gift shop called Presents of Mind. At first glance, it might seem like any other boutique, filled with beautifully crafted gifts and seasonal décor. But look a little closer and you’ll discover that every item tells a story of opportunity and empowerment.
Presents of Mind is a life-changing initiative created by Community Options, a national nonprofit that develops housing and employment for people with disabilities. Here, employment is not just about earning a paycheck, it’s about learning new skills, gaining independence and proving to the world that ability is far more powerful than disability.
On any given day, you will find a team of twelve hardworking individuals behind the counter, carefully arranging displays and assisting customers with a smile. For many of these individuals, Presents of Mind is their first job. Besides providing technical skills, the store fosters confidence.
“A young man who once struggled with social interactions and self-doubt hesitated to make eye contact. With time, patience and encouragement, he found his rhythm,” said Kimberly Lally, the Store Manager. “Today, he warmly greets shoppers with a big smile on his face.”
As Easter and Mother’s Day approach, Presents of Mind becomes a local destination for those seeking unique gifts. Every purchase directly supports their journey, reinforcing the idea that shopping can be more than a transaction. Located at 240 US-206, Flanders, NJ 07836, Presents of Mind invite you to visit, shop and share in their mission. Because every item has a purpose, every employee has a story and all it takes is us.
