Motorists should expect detours around Morristown race, Feb.8

On Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, Morristown will host the Cupid’s Chase 5K which will feature several road closures for a brief time between 10 am and 11 am.
Early Street, Mills Street, Colonial Road, Milton Place, Kenmuir Avenue, Sussex Avenue, Ralph Place, Willard Place, Marian Place, Frederick Street, Walker Avenue, Cutler Street, and Henry Street will all be closed to vehicle traffic during this time.
The 5K race will launch from the Daily Plan-It, 152 Speedwell Ave., promptly at 10 am. Speedwell Avenue will remain open to vehicle traffic, with runners utilizing the curb lane for the race event.
Once the runners have crossed over Sussex Avenue on the return trip, the Cutler Park neighborhood will reopen, including Sussex Avenue.
The closures on this northern most section will only be in effect for approximately 30 minutes. Uniformed officers and race volunteers will be on hand to assist motorists and effect detours around the race route.
Motorists traveling eastbound on Sussex Avenue will be detoured to Lake Road, Burnham Road, Mill Road and back to Speedwell Avenue in Morris Township.
Motorists can also bypass the race route traveling from Sussex Avenue to Kahdena Road then Mendham Road (CR510,) in Morris Township. Uniformed officers will make every attempt to facilitate resident traffic in these areas when the runners are not on the course, but will defer to the safety of the participants when the race is in progress.
