State Representative Michael Schlossberg of Pennsylvania’s 132nd District recently took the time to visit Adam during his shift at Wegmans Food Market. Adam is a participant in the Community Options Supported Employment program and recently celebrated nine months of employment with Wegmans, a family-owned regional supermarket chain with 114 stores across the East Coast.

During the visit, Rep. Schlossberg spoke with Adam, who shared how much the job means to him and discussed his future goals, including building a home of his own.

Community Options’ Supported Employment program partners with businesses across the state to help people with disabilities find meaningful employment. Opportunities span a variety of industries, including retail, lodging, and entertainment. Community Options supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in preparing for, securing, and maintaining jobs within their communities. The program follows a person-centered philosophy and is tailored to each individual’s specific needs and career goals.
