Persistence is key for one Amarillo man

(Philanthropy, Fitness, Health, Running, Sports, Nonprofit)

October 20, 2011 – (Amarillo, Texas) – Community Options, a national nonprofit organization with the mission to develop homes and employment for people with disabilities is preparing to host for its fourth year in a row, the Cupid’s Chase 5K Run.

The Cupid’s Chase 5K Run is the largest, national, simultaneous 5K Run in the country held by any nonprofit organization. With 5K’s held in 25 cities across 10 states on the same day and same time, the Cupid’s Chase offers participants great prizes and giveaways, certified USATF courses and even the opportunity to make a love connection by choosing an “Available” or “Unavailable” shirt to wear. And yes, there have been love connections made as a result of this event over the years.

For the Marketing Director of BritKare Home Medical, he knew he had to get himself and his company involved with Community Options and was persistent in his pursuit. “I wanted to become more involved with the organization and approached the local executive director and asked her how I could help. She suggested I become a part of the local business advisory council,” says, Cale Hawley, Marketing Director for BritKare Home Medical.

Shortly after joining the Community Options Business Advisory Council, Hawley was asked to become the Chair of the Amarillo Cupid’s Chase 5K Run. As the chair, Hawley conducts monthly meetings with the local committee and works to help the organization gain sponsorships for the local race.

Hawley indicates that the Cupid’s Chase 5K is important to him for many reasons. He has been involved with the Amarillo and Lubbock operations for over three years and he finds great joy in seeing the event continue to grow. “Anything we can do to raise money for Community Options and foster an environment where people can get healthy is important,” says Hawley.

Hawley is an avid user of Twitter and will be tweeting live the day of the run on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from @cdhawley.
