(Philanthropy, Fitness, Health, Running, Sports, Nonprofit)
October 20, 2011 – (Albuquerque, New Mexico) – Community Options, a national nonprofit organization with the mission to develop homes and employment for people with disabilities is preparing to host for its fourth year in a row, the Cupid’s Chase 5K Run.
The Cupid’s Chase 5K Run is the largest, national, simultaneous 5K Run in the country held by any nonprofit organization. With 5K’s held in 25 cities across 10 states on the same day and same time, the Cupid’s Chase offers participants great prizes and giveaways, certified USATF courses and even the opportunity to make a love connection by choosing an “Available” or “Unavailable” shirt to wear. And yes, there have been love connections made as a result of this event over the years.
As a young orphan, Daniel Mason was brought to the United States by members of the First Christian Churches of his hometown, who wanted to make a difference for someone less fortunate. Through this group, Mason was instilled with values of integrity, compassion, love for your fellow man, tolerance for the diversity of our society, and the need to give back.
“Working with Community Options and being the Chair of the Albuquerque Cupid’s Chase 5K allows me to continue meeting my personal goals and help those less fortunate than me,” says Mason.
Mason feels strongly that everyone has a responsibility to give back to the community in one form or another. His previous experiences and organizational skills will allow him to contribute to the Cupid’s Chase 5K to make it an even greater success.
“If we in Albuquerque we can successfully do our part, then we are doing our part for the nation wide efforts of Community Options. It makes me feel proud that our team can contribute,” says Mason.
Join Mason on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Balloon Fiesta Park in Albuquerque to participate in the Cupid’s Chase 5K Run.
