Therapeutic Expression Through Art

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) It’s a special July First for one local artist from Apalachin. Alicia Wagner showcases her artwork at Community Options, on Artist Row.

Friday is the organization’s debut in the First Friday celebration.

Community Options provides support services to people with disabilities in the Binghamton area.

Wagner has Asperger’s Syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder.

She said she uses artwork as a way to express herself.

“I mostly do abstract usually medical themed. I have a lot of different inspirations. when I started this I has a lot of trouble communicating and I just spoke through my art. I guess they say a picture is worth a thousand words but for me its worth a lot more,” said Wagner.

Other artists that are served by Community Options also had their work on display.

Wagner encourages anyone with disabilities to reach out to the organization Community Options, Inc.
